Your comments: Judge delays decision that affects NJ wineries
A U.S. District Judge allows more time state legislators to enact legislation that would allow New Jersey wineries to keep their tasting rooms and ship directly to consumers. A federal appeals court ruled in December that it was unconstitutional to allow in-state wineries to sell directly to retailers and in the tasting rooms while other states require wineries to go through wholesalers. State legislators do not pass a bill before the summer break, however, that would allow wineries to keep their tasting rooms as well as being able to ship directly to consumers. The judge, however, granted an administrative stay of the matter until March 31. This means wineries may continue to operate their tasting rooms while working directly with buyers.
